Mad Catz Xbox 360 Arcade GameStick

If you're into Xbox LIVE Arcade games, then you might have realized that the standard Xbox 360 controller is not exactly the right tool for the job, and that's especially true for really old golden classics like Ms. Pac-Man. Mad Catz's Xbox 360 Arcade GameStick was designed to assist gamers with this kind of predicament and it turned out to be perfectly suited for such a purpose.

The most classically obvious feature of the controller is its top-buttoned joystick, looking just as it's supposed to, plus a 360-degree spinner and a 4-direction D-pad. As a failsafe for those gamers not really ready to play it all arcade-style, or for some games where a combination of styles may be required, the Xbox 360 Arcade GameStick comes with the normal Xbox 360 controls as well.

As for compatibility issues, the controller can be easily connected to Microsoft's console by means of a simple USB plug. Even if it looks blocky and massive, its color pattern proclaims it to be part of the Xbox 360 device family.

The joystick and the thumbstick have the same in-game effects, but in games like Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting, the former will give you one hell of an edge. The only real problem is to decide on the best way to handle the controller while playing: some users may find it's too large and squarish to hold in their hands as they would a normal Xbox 360 controller.

In fact, the real arcade feel comes only if you place it down on a table or some similar object; Mad Catz anticipated this, so they attached rubber feet on the bottom of the Xbox 360 Arcade GameStick. That may sound low-tech, but it's a really good thing to have stability while furiously yanking the joystick during a desperate fight with M. Bison.
